Cedar Hill traveled to DeSoto as the underdogs in an intense rivalry game.  In a high scoring matchup, the Longhorns upset the home team with a 65-42 victory.

Going into the game, Cedar Hill’s 6-1 record put them at 23rd in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings.  DeSoto, previously undefeated, sat in 8th in the nation and 2nd in Texas.

Both teams came out strong in the first quarter, but DeSoto had the upper hand leading after the first quarter 35-21.  After managing to shut out the Eagles in the second quarter, Cedar Hill cut DeSoto’s lead down to seven points with the lone touchdown of the quarter.

Then the Longhorns exploded in the third quarter.  Cedar Hill racked up 24 points compared to DeSoto’s seven, taking a 10-point lead into the final quarter.  Adding on another 13 points in the fourth while shutting out the Eagles for another quarter, Cedar Hill walked away with 65-42 win.

With nine Longhorn touchdowns, Cedar Hill had no shortage of offense.  Justin McMillan completed 12 passes on 21 attempts for 338 yards and four touchdowns.  The senior QB hit Damarkus Lodge seven times for 235 yards and three scores.

On the ground, Aca’cedric Ware ran all over DeSoto’s defense.  Ware finished with 26 carries for 157 yards and three four touchdowns.

The ninth touchdown was scored by Trevis Gipson on a fumble recovery.

With this huge victory, Cedar Hill jumps up to 20th in the nation, looking to only continue its way up.  The Longhorns next face Mansfield on October 31.  Kickoff is at 7:30pm.
